Founded by Tina Jücker and Claus Overkamp in 1993, Theater Marabu GbR is a professional independent theatre company for young audiences with a venue of its own in the cultural centre “Brotfabrik” in Bonn’s Beuel neighbourhood. In addition to aesthetically exceptional, typically musical and always witty productions for young audiences, our work focuses on theatre projects with children and teens as well as the promotion of young artists.
We are interested in theatre that takes a humorous look at the most pressing issues of the present and seeks dialogue with the audience. We challenge our young audience members with ambiguous narrative and performance styles that open up new realms and invite audiences to fill them with their own thoughts, perceptions and feelings.
Theater Marabu has presented its productions at the most significant regional and national theatre festivals and has given guest performances in 17 different countries. Its productions have received numerous awards (including nominations for the George Tabori Prize in 2013 and the German theatre award Der FAUST in 2009 and 2013). In 2015, Theater Marabu was distinguished with the ASSITEJ award for exceptional achievement in theatre for young audiences as well as the INTHEGA award for pioneering theatre.

We have made a conscious decision to be close to our young audience members and perform some of our plays for smaller groups in the round. This proximity enables audiences to experience theatre directly.

Children can safely pursue their urge to run around in our inner courtyard. And thanks to our sun and rain awnings, they can now do so in (almost) any weather.
Only pay for the tickets you actually use.
If you need fewer tickets than you reserved, e.g. because someone has fallen ill, you will only have to pay for the tickets you actually need.
Free ticket option for children unable to afford admission.
We don’t want anyone to be left out! That’s why we supply free tickets (wherever possible) financed by donations from supporters.
Possibility to book performances on demand (for 80+ children).
Accommodations can be made for day-care groups or school classes interested in booking an entire performance outside of our regular schedule.
