An object and musical theatre production. Ages 3 and up
Two people arrive with their cleaning cart to tidy up before the show begins. But suddenly one of them disappears, simply takes off, and all the work is left undone. It’s no use begging or pleading, and no admonishment of “business before pleasure” seems to help. But when work becomes a game, it can turn out to be fun. Suddenly, everything seems like child’s play and is finished in time for the show to begin.
With the help of a few objects and live music, “BlauPause” follows the story of two performers as they explore their desire for self-determination and discover the joy of play.
“With this new production for children aged 3 and up, Theater Marabu slyly shifts the boundaries between outside and inside, stage and everyday life, work and leisure. … Tina Jücker and Claus Overkamp have staged a work of everyday poetry that is as poetic as it is captivating. Cleaning trolleys and rubbish bins are transformed into enchanted objects of play; vacuum cleaner hoses and mops take on an absurdly funny life of their own. Here, cleaning is acrobatics and dance, wiping and washing are the rhythm of music – and work becomes a muse for imagination and reverie.”
